Looking for Cranes

in Castro Verde

Through holm oak stands and cereal fields we will be looking for this magnificent bird.

Further info about our tour

Cranes are probably one of the most charismatic species in our fauna. The Alentejo is its region of choice during winter.

These magnificent birds can be seen either at the holm oak stands or in cereal fields, in a small number of places deep inside the Alentejo. Sometimes in small flocks of 7 or 8 birds other times in flocks with hundreds of birds.

Driving through the hills and plains of the Castro Verde region, following their noisy calls or the lines they form when flying in their daily movements, we will be on the cranes’ footstep as soon as we wake up.

Along the way other steppe birds will show up to complete an unforgettable bird watching day.
